Westminster’s Chancel Choir is nearly 30 voices strong. It is a volunteer choir with no auditions required. Rehearsals are held once each week with a short refresher on Sunday mornings before worship. New members are always welcome in all sections of the choir.
Music is a powerful tool for witnessing for God and for shaping discipleship. It is important to us to bring to worship music of many styles and periods that serve to lift us from the commonplace to a level of sacred and timeless spiritual grace. God is not kept in a room in the church, limited to the confines of four walls. We must, therefore, be able to carry away from worship inspiration for the many facets of our daily lives. We continue to build a music program that melds 21st Century reference with the deeply spiritual music left for us by devoted composers of all previous centuries.
As a dear friend once wrote, “Music is not merely an aid to worship; it is worship.”
